What is Natural Soap & What is Not?

When evaluating a “natural handmade soap”, here are some guidelines for you to really determine what truly natural handmade soap is and what is not.  First things first, you do not want to see artificial or chemical colorants, hardeners, latherers or preservatives in the ingredients. Truly natural handmade soap will not contain any of the above chemicals.  Thanks be to God that the average consumer is becoming more aware of the negative effects of synthetic additives in commercial soap, as well as, other bath & body products. The current natural market and economy can be extremely confusing with buzz words like “Natural” and “Organic” being tossed onto any and every product with no real regulation. As consumers, we must become more contentious of the products we purchase and what those products contain.  We must read the ingredients listed on all products and separate the truly natural from those claiming to be natural. The addition of one or two natural ingredients does not make a product "all natural".

Our natural handmade soaps never contain harmful synthetic chemicals, preservatives, or artificial dyes. All of our natural handmade soaps are made in small batches to ensure the quality of each batch. Each natural handmade soap bar is hand stirred, hand-cut and hand wrapped. Our soap wraps are even handmade! Each and every natural handmade bar is cured for a full 6-8 weeks which produces the most desirable bar of soap which is mild and ready to use.   We offer 39 different varieties of natural handmade soap. Every variety of natural handmade soap is formulated with a high percentage of cold pressed olive oil to which we add organic coconut, palm, castor, canola and shea butter to create a wonderfully rich and creamy lather that nourishes skin as well as it moisturizes it.

 What Can Be Considered Natural Scent?

There are two ways to scent a handmade soap - one way is completely natural and the other is not.  If you truly want to select a completely natural soap, it is very important that you understand the following section and terms used.

Natural Essential Oil Soap

Essential oils are extracted scents driectly from the flower, leaf or stem of a plant. An essential oil is a natural scent.  Essential oil is what you are looking for in an ingredients listing if you are interested in a completely natural soap.

Handmade Fragrance Oil Soap is not exactly Natural Soap

Many of the scents we enjoy today cannot be collected naturally or may be too expensive to extract for the handmade soaps and bath products.  A fragrance oil is created in a Perfumer's laboratory to simulate a desired scent.  Anytime you see a fragrance oil or fragrance listed as an ingredient in a soap or skin care product, you should pause and consider because that means the ‘natural soap’ contains an artificial scent, not a natural scent.
