What is Natural?
So what is natural? Can just any product be defined as natural? This seems to be the case with tens of thousands of products available on the market all claiming to be 100% natural. A company’s definition of natural can set it apart as a socially responsible company from the rest of the pack. Many big companies have marketed thousands of “Natural” products that still contain synthetic and over processed ingredients which can be toxic to all of God’s creation, both the human body and our environment. Many of these companies consider, “Natural” to be just another buzz word to be used to mass-market their cheap toxic products.
So again what is natural? We here at Pure Hearts and Clean Hands Soap Company feel that is important to define “Natural”. We feel the responsibility to define what we mean when we claim our products are 100% natural. “Natural”, to us, means no artificial colors or chemically-derived preservatives with no testing on animals. Natural means as a business we have the responsibility to examine how we source, formulate, package and reuse our products. Natural means caring for our environment as well as our customer relationships. Natural means using sustainable resources while deviating from original as little as absolutely possible. It means being completely 100% honest and caring with our customers and environment not anything less in either endeavor.
You may ask well doesn’t the Food &Drug Administration (FDA) ensure that companies cannot use harmful and toxic ingredients in bath and body products? In Short, the answer is no. The FDA is more concerned with and has more jurisdictions in the food and drug sectors. The FDA is an already over-tasked organization whose primary objective with bath and body products is to prevent previously known harmful and toxic ingredients from being used and marketed to the public. But the sad truth is some of these ingredients do, in fact, show up in our bath and body products. Toxic ingredients such as Isopropyl Alcohol, SLS, DEA, FD&C Colors, Propylene Glycol and Triclosan, all of which have been proven harmful to human health and can cause severe skin irritation in some individuals. These ingredients are not natural and should most definitely not be applied to our skin.
By our definition of “Natural”, we are attempting to provide products that are completely safe, nontoxic and biodegradable which are made as close to the original as possible. We prefer that all of our products are free of artificial colors (we instead use natural minerals and plant products), preservatives (we use vitamin E, a natural antioxidant) or detergents, alcohol’s, propylene glycol and many more unnatural ingredients.
Above all, by our definition of “Natural”, we are doing our very best to provide you a healthy alternative to the toxic mass-market junk provided to consumers today while being a socially responsible company with God’s Creation.
